Founded in 1913 in Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture, Sanko Masamune has been brewing sake for over a century, using time-honored techniques and the region’s rich natural resources—pure water and locally grown rice.

Sanko Masamune's unwavering dedication to traditional sake brewing results in a timeless flavor that resonates with sake enthusiasts and connoisseurs who appreciate authenticity over trends.

One of their most iconic offerings is the Honjozo Nama Genshu "HINOKUCHI" a best-seller since 1980. Just one pour into a glass reveals its charm. Packaged in a light-blocking, airtight aluminum can, this sake maintains its fresh, vibrant flavor over time.

Rich and dry in taste, this versatile sake can be enjoyed chilled, warmed, on the rocks, or even with hot water. It pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes—from Japanese to Western and even Chinese cuisine—making it a truly all-purpose sake enjoyed by many.

Committment to ingredients

At Sanko Masamune, we are dedicated to using the finest ingredients to craft our sake.

Our commitment includes:

Locally Sourced Rice: We primarily use premium sake rice varieties such as Yamada Nishiki, Omachi, and Nihonbare. These large-grain, soft-textured rice types possess a central opaque core known as 'shinpaku,' ideal for sake brewing. We focus on locally grown rice to ensure freshness and support regional agriculture.

Pure Water: The quality of water is crucial in sake production. We utilize pristine, soft water sourced from the natural surroundings of Niimi City, which contributes to the smooth and refined taste of our sake.

Traditional Techniques: Our brewing methods honor traditional practices passed down through generations. By combining time-honored techniques with modern quality control, we produce sake that embodies both heritage and excellence.

Through these commitments, Sanko Masamune continues to deliver sake that reflects the rich natural resources and cultural heritage of Okayama Prefecture.
